While your society columnist was chatting with the Fabulous Redheads of Shirlington Village as they dined al fresco at Busboys & Poets, she noticed an outdoor fence being erected outside of Saigonique. Before long the tables and plates were assembled and another set of Shirlington Village celebrities became the first customers to eat at the new outdoor seating.
It does not appear that Saigonique has a website, but here is a link of reviews: http://www.yelp.com/biz/saigonique-arlington

Guest Blogger - Ping about the "Lucky 8" Lunch Set
At PING, we recognize that rising oil prices, a slumping housing market, a collapsing mortgage industry, and shrinking consumer confidence have placed increased pressures on individuals and families. Surveys and polls indicate a majority of households are eliminating vacations and cutting down the number of trips to restaurants, in order, to be able to fill the gas tank. Although we probably can’t help much with putting vacations back onto an expense schedule, we can help with convenience dining by highlighting our Lucky 8 Lunch Sets. As word gets out, more and more diners are visiting PING to take advantage of this special lunch deal.
The Lucky 8 Lunch Set captures the variety of a buffet without the price or the uncomfortable psychological need to gorge oneself. For only $8, a guest can enjoy their choice of California or Cucumber Roll or a Ginger String Bean Salad, a choice of vegetable spring roll, meat spring roll, or cream cheese crab wonton, a selection of one entrĂ©e from 24 different choices, and a white, brown or fried rice to accompany that main dish. A good amount of food to leave anyone more than satisfied. To top it off, the perfect beverage to a Lucky 8 Lunch Set is our iced green teas – organic peach jasmine, blackberry jasmine, or natural green with lemongrass extract (flavors rotated). With all the pressures and toxins that are compromising everyone’s health, this is a refreshing way to get the healing powers of green tea to help combat these annoyances.
Note: Your restaurant reviewer recently had lunch at Ping where she enjoyed a delicious and plentiful Lucky 8 Lunch set.

New design for Four Mile Run
From Alexandria Times A new design for Four Mile Run, July 9, 2008
The city has invited the public to review draft design guidelines governing the physical and aesthetic character of the Four Mile Run Corridor.
In 2006, the City of Alexandria and the County of Arlington adopted a Master Plan for a 2.3 mile stretch of the Four Mile Run Corridor; running from Shirlington to the confluence with the Potomac River. The Master Plan provides the vision and framework for the restoration of the stream and also provides for design guidelines.
The draft Design Guidelines are available on the Northern Virginia Regional Commission website at http://www.novaregion.org/index.asp?nid=824.
