Somewhere your philanthropist read that a local charity had a wish list that include twin bed sheet sets. However, she can't remember which one. It must not be A-SPAN, because their website states in bold that they don't want sheets. www.a-span.org/donation Anyone out there know?

Choose New Stores for the Village at Shirlington

Shirlington is rich with dining options, where you can sample burgers, burritos, or baba ganoush. But where can you get shoes re-soled, or buy a thumb drive, or check out paint samples? The owners of the Village at Shirlington, Federal Realty Investment Trust, are interested in hearing what kinds of retail stores you would be interested in seeing added to Shirlington’s already generous mix of hospitality spots. How about these: A hardware store, a florist, an office supply store, a pet store, a drug store, or an old-fashioned deli? Customer input is important to FRIT’s leasing department, so your choices can fill in the blanks. New retail-store ideas are being collected by Ed Hilz, the Fairlington-Shirlington Neighborhood Conservation Area representative: Send an e-mail to ehilz@earthlink.net by November 20 with “VAS Survey” in the subject line. It must have been at least a year ago when your food columnist asked a manager (now longer working at our HT) if he would consider stocking the item. Fast forward to this evening when your intrepid FC spotted this on the candy shelf. Hopefully the item will be a big hit, so that our HT will continue to stock it.
